Article retraction procedure

Following academic-integrity standards, publication ethics, and COPE guidance, the journal may retract an article where a serious breach affects reliability, originality, or ethical acceptability.

Grounds for retraction

  • Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or improper borrowing.
  • Fabrication, falsification, or material distortion of data.
  • Duplicate publication without disclosure to the editors.
  • Copyright infringement.
  • Improper authorship or concealed substantial contributions.
  • Material errors that make the conclusions unreliable.
  • Breaches of research or publication ethics.
  • An undisclosed conflict of interest capable of affecting assessment or content.

The editors, an author, reviewer, reader, or another interested party may initiate the procedure by submitting a reasoned request.

The editors conduct a preliminary assessment. Where sufficient grounds exist, the editor-in-chief opens an investigation and may appoint a temporary committee with independent experts. Authors may submit written explanations and evidence.

Editorial decisions

  • Leave the article unchanged where no breach is confirmed.
  • Publish a correction where the defect does not materially affect the findings.
  • Retract the article where the breach is serious and incompatible with academic integrity.

A retraction notice identifies the article, author or authors, publication year, reason, and decision date. The article may remain available with a clear retraction notice to preserve transparency.

The author may appeal within 30 calendar days of receiving the official decision.

The process remains confidential except where disclosure is necessary for publication ethics, third-party rights, or legal compliance.
