Relevance of the research. The semantic and interpretative ambiguity of art actualizes the need to identify the features and regularities of its historical genesis through the prism of worldview and articulatory priorities.

Problem statement. The problematic nature of different interpretations regarding the meaningful transhistorical invariant of art, its missionary calling and the means of articulating such a goal is complemented by the specific historical specificity of the worldview and articulatory priorities of art.

Analysis of recent reseafch and publications. Over the past two decades, many research projects have been devoted to the aspectual range of the historical genesis of art in the mirror of worldview and articulatory priorities in the West – in particular, J. Rancière, A. de Botton and J. Armstrong, J. Rinaldi, T. Gratsik, R. Eldridge, C. J. Ducasse, D. Matravers.

Research task. The relevance and problematic nature of the subject area necessitates the clarification of what art is in terms of content, worldview, and articulation in a transtemporal and concrete-historical dimension.

Main material presentation. Perfection as a target reference point of art is meaningfully correlated with the ideal – the idea of a model, a spiritual expression of the human need to organize, improve, and harmonize the relations between man and nature, man and man, man and society. The ideal performs primarily a regulatory function, serving as a vector that allows us to determine strategic goals, the implementation of which the individual and society are ready to devote their lives to.

Conclusions. An adequate understanding of art (in the format of works, phenomena, processes, etc.) is possible only under the conditions of raising the procedure of understanding to the level of art, that is, the art of understanding. It is necessary to understand the calling of art as a historical, personal, and social phenomenon as correctly and fully as possible. It is necessary to realize that such a meaningful and purposeful invariant undergoes significant concrete-historical addition and refinement, due to the worldview-axiological, stylistic and tasteful features of each historical era.

Keywords: historical genesis of art, semantic and semantic criteria, worldview and articulatory priorities, socio-cultural specificity, transtemporal invariants, concrete-historical features.
